The irredeemable thieves at the collapsing Kitui county government have been caught with their fingers inside the cookie jar, yet again.
This comes after a budget running into tens of millions of shillings allegedly to sponsor the International Mother’s Day to be held at Kenyatta University, Kitui campus was sneaked to the public by a county government employee who, like many others is worried by the rate of theft and plunder of public funds.
The budget shows in detailed specific items for the event with a grand total of Ksh50.7 million, all to be blown up in one day for a meaningless occasion that has no direct impact to the Kitui residents.
This money, which is enough to construct 30 min earth dams across the county or sink 16 high volume boreholes has been allocated through the department of Tourism, Sports and Culture.
This department has become synonymous with grand theft in the country where in the recent past it has blown up hundreds of millions in organizing meaningless events such as Churchill show and the infamous Miss Tourism gala that turned out to be a sex bonanza.
We have reliably learnt that the event at Kenyatta University has been sponsored by the national ministry of culture and heritage and other entities. However when thieves in the county government heard of the event, they saw and opportunity to loot and have been falling over themselves to associate with the event.
“That’s the true budget as of now from what I have seen in the records. But don’t be surprised if they hike it upwards before the event ends” said our tipster who leaked the budget.
The leakage of the budget caught the county government by surprise, resulting into serious bashing and criticism by the angry residents.
This forced the governor and other senior government officers to activate their buttock lickers to show up online to defend the besieged government. Each of sycophants and misused workers were awarded with 1000shilings worthy of data for the assignment.
Sadly for the buttock lickers, they will not get any slice of the loot as it will be pocketed only by a small cartel.
What Kitui residents demand is for the county government to come clean on the event.
